Road Safe HB continues to work in partnership with Police with a focus on people using cell phones in vehicles in Hawkes Bay. So many times I have had people say to me ‘there is nothing wrong with it”. Firstly it is illegal and also it demonstrates a total disregard for other peoples safety. Everyone can do their bit to reduce the numbers of people still operating a cell phone in their vehicle.
If you are traveling in a vehicle and the driver is using their phone ask them to stop or pull over on a safe stretch of road. Also remind other drivers to not use their phone. My question to all the people who continue to use their phone while driving, 'would it be okay if the next texting driver kills one of their friends or family?' I think we all know the answer to that.
