The last fatigue stop for the financial year was situated in Waipukurau on the Monday of Easter weekend. The event was also supported by the local Fire and Ambulance Service.Along with Police testing drivers for alcohol, staff handed out information about fatigue, sober driving and then they where invited to attend the adjacent fatigue stop.
The Fire and Ambulance Service provided a visual display and also provided an opportunity for drivers and passengers to talk to the Staff. Drivers and their passengers took advantage of the refreshments that are provide at the stops. This allows the driver to take a break and perhaps swap drivers for the rest of the journey.

Helen will be returning to the HB Youth Alcohol Expo this year to educate drivers on the risks of using a cell phone while operating a vehicle.  Helen is seen here with her Mum at the Expo. Helen's grandmother was sadly the first person killed by a young driver who was texting while driving

Horizon’s  District Council, Road Safe HB, CVIU, Police and Transport Association NZ conducted a fatigue stop near Dannevirke recently.  The fatigue stop also included a health and safety check.

Drivers where able to take a 30 minute break while CVIU (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit/Police) looked over the trucks.  The drivers where provided with a healthy lunch and also had the opportunity to have a health check as well.
