As part of the ongoing promotion of the Party Register a display has been set up at the Hawkes Bay District Health Board (Public Health) Resource Centre. The Resource
Centre supplies health publications to the regions health providers and promoters but is also open to the public. The Party Register information is available for providers and the public at the Resource Centre, along with flyers, information booklets and wallet sized cards. The resources provide information on how to register your party but also on how to plan a party safely. The Resource Centre is at: Napier Health Centre, 76 Wellesley Road, Napier Resources can also be viewed on the Ministry Of Health’s website at www.healthed.govt.nz Road Safe Hawkes has been developing a new education resource, if we can call these ladies this. The Project is Mothers Against Impaired Driving, M.A.I.D’s. A group of mothers who play netball together approached Linda Anderson, Regional Manager Road Safe HB and asked if they could do anything towards educating young people, in particular their young teenagers about driving sober. Mother’s have a unique opportunity to influence their teenagers. This then provided the opportunity to implement education opportunities with a focus on mothers and teenagers. They are currently developing a website, this will provide practical information and also update where the Mothers Against Impaired Driving have been.
As part of the ongoing efforts to reduce the risks of driving impaired Senior Constable Iain Cheyne (Eastern Police) was interviewed on TV HB.
The interview provided the opportunity to promote the alcohol education resource “Just Another Saturday Night”. The DVD has been developed featuring a local crash where two young men died and two where critically injured. If you would like to view this please visit www.jaredsmessage.co.nz This also provided the opportunity to promote the Hawkes Bay Youth Alcohol Expo that will take place from 13th-17th May 2013 at the Pettigrew Green Arena in Napier. If you would like further information please contact Linda onlinda.anderson@hbrc.govt.nz Road Safe HB in conjunction with Eastern Police have re-developed the Party Register. This had been running a few years ago and had been very successful but needed a new ‘face’. The purpose of the Party Register is to encourage people to register their party with the Hawkes Bay Police. Then the party organiser receives an information pack. The benefits of registering the party and receiving the information pack include, the Police are aware of any parties occurring, particular if they involve larger numbers of guests, if anything goes wrong then the Police have a contact person they can speak to, also information provided supports the planning of a safe party including host responsibility requirements. If you would like to register a party please visit the website on www.partyregisterhb.co.nz
